Was: 1. Points: 350. Last week: Did not play. Outlook: After a reluctant bye, the Miners are well rested and hungry for region opener. Next up: at Herriman, Friday.

2. Davis (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 2. Points: 329. Last week: Beat Syracuse, 6-0. Outlook: Offense was nonexistent last week, but a dominant defense picked up the slack. Next up: at Layton, Friday.

3. Timpview (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 3. Points: 328. Last week: Beat Mountain View, 51-14. Outlook: Continues to roll, and it probably won't stop despite three straight road games. Next up: at Orem, Friday.

4. Cottonwood (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 4. Points: 309. Last week: Beat Murray, 57-0. Outlook: With a bye this week, the Colts will have a week to prepare for Skyline. Next up: at Skyline, Friday, Sept. 24

5. Riverton (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 5. Points: 281. Last week: Beat Kearns, 40-18. Outlook: As impressive as early wins are, season will be defined by later games with Alta and Bingham. Next up: at Copper Hills, Friday.

6. Northridge (4-0)

Class: 5A

Was: 8. Points: 271. Last week: Beat Bonneville, 30-7. Outlook: Assuming it gets by Viewmont this weekend, big showdown with Davis looms the following week. Next up: vs. Viewmont, Friday.

7. Mountain Crest (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 9. Points: 253. Last week: Beat Las Vegas, Nev., 51-7. Outlook: Defense got back on track with a big victory over the visitors from Nevada. Next up: at Bonneville, Friday.

8. East (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 10. Points: 242. Last week: Beat Stansbury, 48-17. Outlook: This team is clicking on all cylinders as it leads all of 4A in scoring. Next up: vs. Olympus, Friday.

9. Lone Peak (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 11. Points: 234. Last week: Beat Brighton, 28-7. Outlook: Bounced back from surprising loss to Highland with a convincing win in region opener. Next up: vs. Hillcrest, Friday.

10. Alta (1-3)

Class: 5A

Was: 13. Points: 225. Last week: Beat Jordan, 14-13. Outlook: Finally picked up a W, but the schedule is still tough the next three weeks. Next up: vs. Brighton, Friday.

11. Bountiful (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 12. Points: 195. Last week: Beat Tooele, 42-7. Outlook: Dominant defense has only surrendered 30 points so far this season. Next up: at Woods Cross, Friday.

12. Hurricane (4-0)

Class: 3A

Was: 15. Points: 187. Last week: Beat Dixie, 55-28. Outlook: The wins just keep getting easier and easier for 3A's best team. Next up: at Snow Canyon, Friday.

13. Olympus (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 16. Points: 184. Last week: Beat Woods Cross, 35-28. Outlook: Beating Woods Cross was a great way to open region, but another daunting task awaits with East. Next up: at East, Friday.

14. Jordan (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 7. Points: 174. Last week: Lost to Alta, 14-13. Outlook: Defense dominated Alta, but two special teams plays cost the 'Diggers dearly. Next up: at American Fork, Friday.

15. Highland (2-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 18. Points: 137. Last week: Beat Bear River, 34-13. Outlook: Early struggles are a distant memory as Rams kick off Region 6 play this week. Next up: at Tooele, Friday.

16. Springville (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: 6. Points: 128. Last week: Lost to Juan Diego, 21-14. Outlook: Offense hit the skids against Juan Diego's excellent defense. Next up: vs. Payson, Friday.

17. West (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 23. Points: 119. Last week: Beat Hunter, 14-10. Outlook: Fresh off beating Hunter, the Panthers host West in critical Region 2 game. Next up: vs. Skyline, Friday.

18. Juan Diego (3-1)

Class: 3A

Was: 24. Points: 107. Last week: Beat Springville, 21-14. Outlook: It's safe to say that Juan Diego is just fine after its big win at Springville. Next up: at Morgan, Friday.

19. Fremont (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: 22. Points: 94. Last week: Beat Weber, 10-7. Outlook: Unblemished through easy stretch of schedule, but it's about to get much tougher. Next up: at Syracuse, Friday.

20. Westlake (4-0)

Class: 4A

Was: 25. Points: 88. Last week: Beat Provo, 38-24. Outlook: QB John Ursua is having an incredible season, and the rest of 4A is taking notice. Next up: at Mountain View, Friday.

21. Syracuse (2-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 19. Points: 82. Last week: Lost to Davis, 6-0. Outlook: Despite outgaining Davis by 200 yards offensively, the Titans failed to score and lost in OT. Next up: vs. Fremont, Friday.

22. Woods Cross (2-2)

Class: 4A

Was: 17. Points: 52. Last week: Lost to Olympus, 35-28. Outlook: After another tough loss, it doesn't get any easier against visiting Bountiful. Next up: vs. Bountiful, Friday.

23. Hunter (2-2)

Class: 5A

Was: 14. Points: 40. Last week: Lost to West, 14-10. Outlook: Offense has completely disappeared, and suddenly the Wolverines look very average. Next up: at Cyprus, Friday.

24. West Jordan (3-1)

Class: 5A

Was: —. Points: 37. Last week: Beat Copper Hills, 49-16. Outlook: Adam Boelter's speedy recovery is a great sign heading into region play. Next up: vs. Pleasant Grove, Friday.

25. Pine View (3-1)

Class: 4A

Was: —. Points: 17. Last week: Beat Desert Hills, 30-7. Outlook: Only blemish on schedule was opener at East, which doesn't look so bad after all. Next up: vs. Cedar, Friday.
